The Disability Specialists
John F. Baker, Principal
Relying on over 25 years of experience in the disability insurance field, Jack is committed to providing an unrivaled “critical thinking and problem solving” approach in “best protecting” the incomes, assets, and financial interests of senior management and their governing bodies. This “client first”, disability risk management paradigm, embedded in every customized plan design, hinges on understanding and responding to the unique needs of each institution. With an intimate knowledge of disability product portfolios, access to “proprietary” products & programs as a result of longstanding relationships with “advanced underwriting” departments, and dedicated post implementation service and support models, The Disability Specialists offers unmatched expertise in meeting the most complex disability needs of your organization.
Founder and Managing Partner of The Disability Specialists, Jack started his career with The Prudential in 1984 where he was a perennial national “disability income” sales leader. His intimate involvement in the re-engineering of the Prudential “agency system” led to the creation of The Disability Specialists – a consulting (& brokerage) concern focused in the strategic development and deployment of disability insurance product specialists throughout the country.
In 1998, Jack and MKA (Morrill, Koslow, & Associates), a nationally recognized non-qualified executive benefit firm, forged a joint venture, where together, they built a highly successful disability and long term care practice – implementing and administering proprietary “income and asset” protective plans for highly compensated executives throughout the Northeast. During his tenure with MKA, Jack provided disability risk management consulting services to the Boston Celtics, working with their executive leadership to assess, design, and deliver (disability) product to protect their contractual interests with both players and coaching staff.
A well traveled public speaker, consultant, and advocate for adequate disability planning, Jack is a past director of the Boston Life Underwriters Assoc., a Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow/Moderator, and member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. Jack is a 1982 graduate of Lake Forest College, where he earned a BA in Economics & Psychology. Jack, his wife Dede, and their 3 children are residents of Beverly, MA.
